1. Is this program a day camp?

No, we are not a day camp. We don’t have the license or insurance in place to operate a day camp. It is better to think of this program as organized babysitting. However, our team has reviewed the Ministry of Health COVID guidelines for day camps and implemented them. You can find them here.

2. What are the locations?

Durand 1 - Aberdeen

Durand 2 - Hess Street South

Westdale - Churchill Park

3. Where will the children go to the washroom?

Each location has a washroom that is dedicated to the children’s use. It is cleaned twice daily. Health Canada approved products are used to clean the bathrooms. Hand sanitizer, non-alcohol wipes and gloves are available. We have specific instructions that will make it easier for the children. We recommend that you practice the instructions with your children at home prior to the first day. Children in the Westdale program will use public facilities.

4. What are the COVID considerations?

Your child’s safety is our number one priority. Our programs take place outdoors only, with a maximum of eight children. You will be required to submit a pre-screening for your child each day. The Conductors will also complete a pre-screening each day. Rules and precautions will be reviewed each morning with the children. Activities, games and crafts have been chosen and designed to minimize contact between participants. Each child will have their own bag of supplies for use in crafts.

5. Is there swimming?

Yes, there is swimming for the children at Durand 1 - 5-8 year olds and Durand 2 - 6-9 year olds. Swimming takes place at the Hess Street South location for both groups. Children will swim up to 4 at a time in the pool. One Conductor will either be watching or in the pool during swim time, depending on the activity. At Durand 1, there will also be water activities for cooling off. Children who can’t swim independently will have to bring floaties or a life jacket.

6. What are the qualifications of the team members?

All of our team members have experience working with children. They have all completed the babysitting course, as well as Basic First Aid and CPR. They are also all excellent students, musically talented and physically fit.
